TED X

1) Embed the above video in your blogpost and read this Guardian article that accompanied the original event. Remember to also look at the comments below - these can give you a variety of different perspectives and criticisms to the original lecture.

Plan B mentioned throughout his lecture that there are so much potential in youngsters even if they are not well educated. He mentioned a short anecdote about a five boy's who he auditioned for a role in Ill Manors, he could only take one, the person who ended up losing out actually got a placement (soon after) for leading role in a T.V show known as 'Top Boy'.
2) Make notes on the lecture: focus on Plan B/Ben Drew's views on the opportunities for young people in London and how these inspired Ill Manors.

Plan B's opportunities for young people are to help them with their life and their future so that they can better themselves.  He believes that the government is contradicting themselves in to saying that they are going to support the youth however, make things worse for them.

3) What are Plan B's beliefs/politics? What are his values/ideologies? Explain your answers.
This Ted X lecture is meant to be targeted for the youth that are effected by the governments poor actions upon them. The children who have suffered a lot before the riots and after are those who Plan B is trying to reach out to. In addition, Plan B wants his words to come across those who are second in the hierarchy (the adults). This demographic is full of people who are mature and understand the world around them.

4) Who is the target audience of the TEDx lecture? Demographics? Psychographics? How do you know? How does this compare to the audience for his music/films?
The target audience is targeting everyone from any age, ethnicity, race and country to help people who are in need of help and to help those who are seen as being poor or from broken families. This is seen as he talks to everyone as a whole to step in and help them to improve their lives and not to sit back and do nothing.
5) What does Plan B say about the media? Explain how this can be linked to Cohen's media theory of moral panics? Read this summary of moral panics and the definition from Wikipedia and use them in your answer.
A moral panic is something that is created by the media so that it targets a wide population of people to indicate that there is some sort of crisis such as boys underachievement in schooling. This can be linked to what Plan B is saying as he is talking about the youth and the way that they are portrayed in the media which ultimately leads to a moral panic.
